Safe area
(or action-safe area) - the area within a TV picture that is considered relatively safe from being cut off by the edge of the tube on consumer television sets. All consumer TVs overscan - they cut off the edges of the picture they're showing to ensure the whole screen is filled, with no black borders. The amount cut off varies between televisions, but as a rule film makers ensure that nothing important in the picture lies outside the central 90% of the frame. All editing packages show the whole picture in their viewing windows, and many provide a way of showing where the safe area lies so you can be sure none of the action will get cut off. Look up "safe area" in your editing software's manual.
SCART adapter/connector

Today, most new television sets are all VCRs in the European market and other countries that use the PAL video standard come equipped with a SCART connector.
